ABSTRACT: This study investigates the importance of mental health support for vocational students, focusing on the challenges they face and the support systems available. The objectives were to (1) assess the mental health needs of vocational students, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of existing mental health support services, and (3) propose strategies to improve mental health support in vocational institutions. A survey design was chosen to collect data from students, educators, and mental health professionals, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues and support mechanisms. The sample size included 220 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to include those directly involved in vocational education and mental health services. The case study was conducted in Enugu State, Nigeria, known for its educational focus and student support programs. Findings revealed that vocational students faced significant mental health challenges, including stress, anxiety, and depression, often due to academic pressure and financial constraints. Existing mental health support services were found to be inadequate, with limited availability and accessibility. Recommendations included expanding mental health resources, integrating mental health education into the curriculum, and establishing support groups and counseling services within vocational institutions to provide comprehensive mental health support for students.
